How we would build an assistant that answers questions from policy documents, with citations and a full audit trail.
The Problem
Analysts spend hours each week searching thousands of policy documents. It's hard to be sure they're citing the current version, which matters during an audit.
The Architecture
Documents are indexed in a vector search layer with access controls. A retrieval-augmented (RAG) assistant answers questions and cites the document and clause it used. Every question and answer is logged.
The Solution
Analysts ask a question in plain English and get an answer with a link to the source, which they can check before relying on it.
Why This Approach
Most of the work is in the documents, not the model: knowing which version is current, who can see what, and how to keep the index up to date. Citations keep a person in the loop.
